UC Davis awarded 5 BCC Cannabis Awards, over $3 Million in funding

Five proposals from the University of California at Davis were awarded funding by the California Bureau of Cannabis Control (BCC). UC Davis researchers had submitted 19 proposals in response to the call.

The BCC awarded a total of $29,950,494 in public university research grant funding to nine universities across California for research projects related to the implementation and effect of Proposition 64. Research proposals had to fall within one of the several specified categories, including public health, criminal justice and public safety, economics, environmental impacts and the cannabis industry.   

The five UC Davis awards total $3,124,299, which is a welcome boost to cannabis research at the university. The awards will advance research across a range of domains: public health sciences, agricultural and resource economics, environmental science and management, industrial ecology and medicine.
